Lawyers in Libraries

The Connecticut Bar Association has established the Lawyers in Libraries program to provide free volunteer legal services to the public in a community setting. The New London County Bar Association is pleased to recommend and support this initiative. Through this program, individuals can register for a 20-minute appointment at a nearby library and receive free legal advice in areas such as landlord/tenant issues, immigration, family law, employment, consumer rights, and personal injury.

If you’re interested in receiving free, brief legal advice at a local library, you must register in advance with one of the participating libraries listed on the Connecticut Bar Association’s website. When it’s time for your appointment, please bring all relevant paperwork related to your matter. At the library, you’ll be required to sign a consent form regarding the limited services provided.

Attorneys who wish to provide pro bono services through the Lawyers in Libraries program are encouraged to contact the Connecticut Bar Association for more information. The CBA provides professional liability insurance for legal advice given during a Lawyers in Libraries event.
