FOR FASTEST SERVICE, REQUEST A REFERRAL ONLINE.
FINDING A LAWYER
A personal referral is the best way to find a lawyer who meets your particular needs. If your relatives, business associates, or close friends cannot recommend a lawyer, the local and county bar associations in Connecticut provide a public service know as Lawyer Referral Service (LRS).
About Us
The New London County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service connects individuals residing or doing business in New London County, Connecticut with a participating attorney in good standing with the State of Connecticut. All participating attorneys have undergone a thorough application process and carry malpractice insurance.
Please note, the Lawyer Referral Service does not provide pro-bono or income-based assistance. There are no exceptions. For legal aid services, please reach out to Statewide Legal Services (860) 344-0380.
How to Request a Referral
If you need legal advice and want to be referred to an attorney, you can (1) leave a voicemail with the LRS at (860) 889-9384; (2) send an email briefly outlining your complaint, including names of all parties involved, any upcoming court dates and in what town you reside ([email protected]); or (3) complete our brief online referral form [here]. We review emails and online submissions first, and aim to respond within 48 hours.
What the Referral Includes
Should your situation warrant it and a participating attorney is interested and available, we will connect you with a qualified and pre-screened attorney who specializes in your area of concern. You will receive up to 30 minutes of consultation with this attorney. If you require a second opinion, you may be referred to one other participating attorney (assuming a second attorney is interested and available) at no additional cost. Subsequent services beyond the initial consultation will be billed at the attorney’s standard rates, which will be discussed directly between you and the attorney.
Referral Fee
A non-refundable referral fee of $35 applies for most cases, excluding Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Social Security cases (as determined by the attorney). This fee, required at the time of referral and payable online with a credit card before the consultation, covers administrative costs and includes consultations with up to two attorneys. Please note, the fee is non-negotiable and non-refundable.
